NBNet Aliant (Bell Canada) and Google.com

Oh.. did I miss something? I think i did.. Appears the internet in NB at least has taken a postitive step forward and lost the services of the BIG G. Wow what a great idea, who needs google anyway.

Can’t be 100% sure what is going on but it has now been over 12 hours and all NB NET (now Bell Canada customers) have been without the major player of all, big G (Google.com)

Not only is the most popular search provider not coming through Bell’s network, but all of google related sites, ie: google news, gmail, adwords, adsense etc. Looks a tad on the suspicious side if you asked me. I know a lot of people with Rogers high speed (sorry for their luck) and they all report having access to ALL of Google’s services.

I wonder… hmm I wonder could this have anything to do with Bell Canada throttling their customers? Yea back in July Google was quick to step in as the CRTC was once again dragging their asses on an issue that was completely under their reign. What’s new.. O well, google was quick to step up for the rest of Canada, and they warned Bell to “STOP THROTTLING…Plain and simple”

Might not be huge news for those average evertday gmail account holders, but for me for example (and many others im sure who were affected), what about those Adwords Campaigns that are running? Sure adwords editor can supply you with the ability to PAUSE campaigns, but it cannot show you stats for your day, and conversion goals.. Aside from complete inconvenience, this is a total waste of $ for advertisers who rely on adwords.

Great work Bell. And great techs and senior reps who cant even answer SIMPLE Q’s on the tele when asked.. Looks like this takeover (Bell buying aliant) is off to a very smooth start.

Guess we will never know for sure what is up between these 2 heavyweights, one thing is for sure… One of those 2 companies can do without the other. not vice versa

It happened again last night and we had a fair bit of discussion about it on twitter. Will be interesting to see if it happens again.
